wait bsod beta install

I've tried to install Vista from booting from the DVD acquired from MS and get the loading windows files and then it goes to a black screen with no activity for at least 15 minutes. I try to install by running the DVD under Windows 2000 and I get windows update, copies files, expands files, then reboots and black screen. If I restart selecting safe mode I get loading files up to disk.sys and then Please wait for at least 15 minutes. When I go back to Win2000 there appears to be no files on D:. Vista never gets to format the space. I also tried pre-formating NTFS but no difference.
I'm doing clean installs to a 30GB partition D: on the following hardware: ECS RC410L/800M motherboard w Pentium D #805 Nec ND-3550A DVD 1GB Kingston RAM Integrated ATI x/200 video w/64MB shared memory Maxstor 40GB IDE hard drive
Any advice on other things to try.

Same problem here but with SATA drives.
ECS RC410/800-M V2.0 (BIOS dated 2/15/2006) w/ Integrated ATI Radeon Express 200 1GB Kingston RAM Maxtor DiamondMax Serial ATA/150
RAID is not used on the motherboard.

At suggestion at ECS.care@hexus I also tried using shared storage of 128MB. I also have swapped in a Seagate SATA 7900-10 drive. Nothing seems to help. Only thing I haven't tried is using a PCI-E video card. Hate to buy one and find its some other incompatibility.

In my particular scenario I was using a Asus P4S800D-X mobo with onboard SATA raid controller. The two SATA drives were RAID 5 used primarily for a media share. My primary drives were a 80gb as well as a 400gb IDE drive. The 80gb drive originally had Windows XP on it of which was totally wiped due to a faulty Vista installation. Hope was just about lost.
In order to get Vista installed I got it down to the bare basics. I used the 400gb drive only with a DVD burner, Radeon 9700 AGP graphics card, and a Creative SoundBlaster 2 Audigy Platinum card. After restarting I finally saw the screen I needed to see (everything beyond the BSOD). The problems didn't end there though.
I had to delete all partitions on the IDE drive, and then start the installation. It would then hang and then stall out when it went to install updates. From there I removed the LAN cable and re-ran it one more time. Like a champ it made it all the way through the installation process.
Once I was able to get it stable enough I went ahead and got all the updates, and added just about everything piece by piece with no problem. The soundcard still doesn't work but I've read that the XP drivers work. Additionally I still can't get the SATA drives to work as they continually give me the BSOD.
Hopefully this helps isolate your problems some more.
